Dublin LJ Meetup?
It has been, I'm ashamed to say, quite some time since we've had a meetup. Indeed, the last one I organised was almost exactly three years ago, in February 2005, although I believe jadedgeneration organised one more recently, in August 2006. There was a meetup at the P-CON SF convention in Wynn's Hotel last March, which went very well, and there may well be plans for something similar at this year's convention, which takes place in the Central Hotel at the end of March.

So, is it time to try to get these meetups back on the road? My own preferred time would still be Sunday afternoons, but I'd like to see other people coming in and organising other meetups, too.

All opinions welcome.

August 6th Sunday
Since the Monday 7th August is a bank holiday, how are people fixed for the Sunday afternoon/evening?

I know it's short notice, and I'm just trying here! But if anyone wants to chip in or post with better suggestions, go for it!

Ok, since we've all fallen by the wayside, you guys suggest a good day for meeting.

Sunday afternoons are still best for me, but weeknights are not out of the question. Eberyone throw in their twopence worth and I'll see if I can knock out a date. I'm doing what Padraig suggested, I'm attempting to organise ;)

Organisation is an obession so DON'T YOU DARE IGNORE :P

No seriously, I'm not scary, ask people who did meet me.

Have we finished completely? Or does anyone still think meet ups are fun? I know it's been up to Padraig to arrange meet ups in the past and he's got other things to deal with now, so.... is anyone still keen to meet? Comment if so, let's see what we can arrange.

I for one miss the meet ups though I think I only went to three or four!!

Meeting?
So, does anyone want to do a Meetup some time soon? Say in the middle of the last week in July? Comment here, and we'll pick a date, time, and venue. After all, it's been absolutely ages since the last one!

Opinions?
Right, since a recurring theme lately has been that Sunday isn't the best day to meet up as people can't make it.

So, what day would suit better?

Fun
Well that was a successful meetup. We managed a peak of 9 people in the same area at the same time (slovobooks and ephiriel were technically leaving to go to Clerys but it still counts)

Roll Call was: Self (aramuin), m_nivalis, solvobooks, ephiriel, sciamanna, jadedgeneration, glitzfrau, daegaer and biascut.

Topics of conversation included; eccentric as a character description for Sci-fi fans, places ferrets shouldn't be allowed and feminism.

Wonderful to meet you all and I go to friend those I don't already have.

Edit: Sorry jadedgeneration - Can't spell. And I would like to remind people that I am tactless - if you want me to shut up, you just have to say. Sorry.

Next Dublin LJ Meetup
Firstly, many apologies for having suggested a date and not following up on it. My only excuse is complete absentmindedness, coupled with having been laid low for most of the last week with some form of respiratory complaint. Or a cold, if you prefer...

Now, I'm going to suggest we should have the next meetup on Sunday the 13th of February, in the Mercantile Bar on Dame Street, at 3PM. I know that opinions have been raised about meeting in the evening, and during the week, and perhaps we could alternate between weekend, midday meetups, and midweek, evening meetups. In any case, I'm going to suggest that, if you can make it along in two weeks time, we can discuss it in greater detail then. In the meantime, any and all opinions are greatly welcomed.

Again, many apologies for starting organising one for last weekend, and not following up on it.

Next Meetup...
Does anyone have any strong opinions about when we should have the next Meetup? I was thinking of Sunday the 30th of January, which is about 2 weeks from now, at the usual hour, which is to say 3 PM.

Also, does anyone have any other ideas for a venue, as The Mercantile can be a bit loud betimes?

Dublin LJ Meetup - Sunday 19th December!
The Christmas Dublin LJ Meetup will be in the Mercantile Bar on Dame Street on Sunday 19th December at 3pm!

There shall be chatting and drinking and Christmas cheer!*

I hope as many of you as possible can make it (especially ephiriel and slovobooks as this is the first one they haven't organised). :)

If you could include this in your own journal that would be a good and useful thing.

*Christmas cheer not necessarily included...

Pre-Christmas meetup
I know everyone will be getting increasingly busy as the weeks go by, but are there any plans/intentions to meet up before Christmas, either on Sunday 12th or Sunday 19th of December? If there's sufficient interest then a few hours in a pub of a Sunday afternoon would be a very pleasant way to spend part of December.

Unless of course there is a plan and I've just missed it...
